Done

Done.

I’m done. I have lost all interest in riding my bike. I have only been managing 3 rides a week, all short, all slow. I have not felt good on the bike all year.

I look at the bike with dread and guilt.

Teddy Toe Clips, a long time mentor and role model has even suggested that I forget about it for a while. No sense in pushing the issue. Wait it out until the itch returns.

I’m not sure it will. I find myself getting more and more aggravated with traffic, crappy roads, idiot driver and mostly my inability to feel right on the bike.

I have been leaving a bike in the dining room so it will be easy to get out the door but is had been sitting there for over a week unridden. I put in the basement last night so I wouldn’t have to look at it.

It’s like a friend passing away and not caring.

This is as bad as I’ve felt in years.

You need a change in scene, man. Are you sick of the bike, or just the environment you ride it in? Or is it just time for a nice vacation?

The environmet is a big part of it.

I have lived and ridden in this area my whole life.

I took a nice vacation and had few good rides up in Quebec but the urge to ride is just not there.

I think I'm going to spend pare time shooting thei summer and pull the mountain bike out this fall.

I have removed myself from the bike club obligations and politics as well as the local bike advocacy bullshit. Let the loonies wander the grounds. I am not going to get involved.

So what is up for an outing?

Do you have a gun?

well, il b, i dunno what to say...

maybe my current enthusiasm is so strong from having those 5 solid years of almost no cycling (1 year taper there in the begining when I tried to race cross w/o riding much at all)...

jersey pro Ted might be right...

this place is still a great area to ride in, even as fahked up as it has gotten lately...

Ted had a lot of time off due to being hit by a car, then they left a surgical sponge in him...

That's when he got a bit portly. Ted was on of the first Cat 1s around when they went to that system in the 70s.

We'll see.

original cat 1 or not...

i've yet to see him wearing anything other than full Caisse d'Epargne team kit... it might not be the current year one...

maybe he's got a good connection/reason for wearing it ;)

He color coordinates. FOr years and years it was black & yellow. He had gaggle of black Serottas and the outfit was always matching.

Last year it was CSC red & black. have not seen the cisssee despargnez yet.

I have a Rabobank uni "bought" it when the shop closed. I kinda like the pro team jersey thing as long as it is a bit off beat.

I have seen enough La Vie Claire and USPS jerseys to last a lifetime but a Magniflex, Malvor, SCIC, or KAS jersey shows some panache muthafukkahs.

I also have a 2006 Portuguese national champion jersey as worn by Bruno Pires of teh disgraced LA Aluminos team!

I have not one, but two Panasonic Sportlife jerseys. Ekimov was my original favorite pro rider. I bought one, then "outgrew" it (literally), and misplaced it. Then Marro found one on ebay and bought it for me. And I found the original. And lost enough weight so that they both fit now...

I am up for some kind of outing. Next Thursday I am 90% for the Brockton Rox game. Aug 16 might either be the Bicycle Film Festival or supermodifieds in Waterford Ct. Then I think the PawSox game for the 23rd is still on, but the guy has been slow getting back to me. Maybe we should just buy tickets.

Aug 17 is the crit in Fall River. Right near Vivieros Insurance. It's and industrial park, but Bikeworks puts it on, so I plan on going. Maybe we could do sandwiches and brews afterwards?

Is that enough options? I have no guns, that was someone else...

three rides a week? whats wrong with that? shit, thats pretty steady.

you only need 40 rides in the off season to race cross.

But, if your not feeling the love, may I suggest a couple days up at Goose Rocks Beach in Maine. Take a tent up to Salty Acres Campground. Its a mile from the beach. Hardly any tourists, its above the mess that is Wells/Kennebunk, its up in Arundel.

Leave the bike at home. Roast marshmellows.

Malvor- Murat's first ever cycling jersey from back in 1986.
Still have it.
